Thor’s A Woman Because Marvel Said So

So, because some comic book executives said so, Thor is now a female.  Never mind that for thousands of years Thor was a man. Political correctness can’t be bothered with little things like history.  It’s easy to dismiss this change, even if the idea bothers you; after all, few people read comic books anyway.  But this change is symptomatic of a new attitude and new priorities within our society.  The most important thing–it has become clear–is that no disadvantaged group can be “victimized” by anything ever.  Of course, the group itself is rarely the entity deciding whether they are being slighted or not.  But no matter.  You’re offended because we tell you that you should be.  Standards of political correctness are absolute.  They cannot be compromised by history, or traditional values, or facts.  Being politically correct is more important. And that’s a scary premise.  I’m not asking for much.  If Thor’s male, Thor’s male.  A comic book writer can’t change that.  Yet the political correctness machine rolls on, leaving history in its wake.  It’s for your own good, they say.
